When a wholesale need, becomes a retail opportunity

One of the key components to working with the animals and operating the centre is the purchasing of the volume of food. This presents two problems firstly the large cost and secondly sourcing a regular and reliable supply,

Necessity is the mother of invention and lead to the opening of the Gibbon Green Grocer project.

The primary purpose of the project was to provide a cost effective and quality assured purchasing channel. Over time this developed into a retail outlet providing quality produce to the local community, with the profits funding our activities.

As the green grocer progressed we began to supply additional items that were also used in the day to day activities such as disinfectant, cleaning products and other household items.

In partnership with international volunteers and local staff green grocer has become a key cog in the Project Borneo machine.
